This book covers all the basics of inspection and testing and clearly explains all the legal requirements. It not only tells you what.

Course content This course will only cover the differences between the 17th Edition to the 3rd amendment and the 18th Edition. Assessment Method of assessment is a two hour long computerised exam.

The exam will consist of 60 multiple choice questions and candidates are allowed a non-Programmable calculator and a copy of BS wiring regulations with them during the exam. Candidates will have the option of carrying out a few mock exam questions beforehand to familiarise themselves with the software.

17th Edition

The exam will be carried out on the same day as the course. Please note that there is only one exam for assessing the 18th Edition level 3 Award in Requirements for Electrical Installations BS qualification. While we offer a 1 day condensed course for the qualification the method of assessment is not condensed.

That means the exam can cover the entirety of the BS book, not just the differences between the 17th and the 18th Edition. If you lack confidence or knowledge with the 17th Edition then we would advise you take the full 3 day 18th Edition course. Requirements Candidates need to have completed the 17th Edition course with the latest amendment 3rd. Candidates must be over 16, and ideally have knowledge of electrical installation and electrical science.

For more than 30 years, students and practising electricians have relied on John Whitfield to take them step by step through the complexities of the Wiring Regulations in a clear, logical and helpful manner. His Guide is a recognised 'brand' and regarded over the years as the guide to the Wiring Regulations.

Unlike other publications, it does not assume that readers are fully conversant with electrical theory. It assumes just a basic knowledge and introduces technical matter with brief easy-to-understand explanations.

This 4th Edition of the Guide is a continuation of the bestselling series. It covers the latest Amendment 3: As in earlier editions, all useful relevant details derived from other IET publications such as Guidance Notes, Wiring Matters, which might otherwise be overlooked by electricians, are included. Importantly the Guide also benefits from the most up-to- date, hands-on expertise provided by the co-author, Andrew Hay-Ellis, whose credentials are second-to-none.

The authors understand that many readers might be sole traders, and so they try to spell out the financial implications and to suggest money saving action where this is possible. No legal jargon, no unnecessary details, comprehensive - yet practical, helpful and easy to put into practice.
